Mansfield Timberview Football News

Spotlight: Mansfield Timberview

Date: Aug 16, 2010 From: Mansfield Timberview

Mansfield Timberview Wolves

District 5-5A

Coach: Mark Walker

Last season: 5-5 (3-4 in District 8-4A)

Key players: DB Dion Stanford (5-10, 170); DB Spencer McNeil (5-10, 165); WR Chaz Sampson (6-5, 190); QB Chuck Taylor (5-9, 165)

The big picture: Not only are the Wolves moving up to Class 5A, but coach Mark Walker believes 5-5A is one of the toughest districts in the state. But Timberview has a standout secondary behind DBs Dion Stanford and Spencer McNeil. Offensively, QB Chuck Taylor gives the Wolves a versatile playmaker, and he'll have a big target in WR Chaz Sampson, a Tulsa commit.

Quotable: "I hear a lot of people saying we didn't do good in 4A, so we won't in 5A. But we've put in tons of work and it comes from the heart. Every player we have has a passion for the game, and we work hard everyday. I think we're ready for 5A." - WR Chaz Sampson

Quotable: "On defense, we're going to get guys around the ball as fast as we can. Offensively, we're going to stretch you vertically and horizontally and tempo the ball." - coach Mark Walker

Notable: The Timberwolves have only two starters returning on defense, but Stanford and McNeil both run 4.4-second 40-yard dashes.
