Game Recap Cypress Ranch vs. FortBend Stephen F. Austin Friday, August 26, 2011 @ Mercer Stadium The varsity football team secured a win in the season opener this past Friday night against Fort Bend Austin. The Mustangs prevailed 34-21 behind a strong rushing effort from Keith Ford and a timely defensive effort. Kyle Rammage played extremely well as he and the other members of the offensive line opened up holes for the Mustang running backs. Ford scored on two rushing touchdowns. Kewai Wilder added another rushing touchdown and Justin Monsour tossed a 6 pointer to Hunter Kliafas. Tyler Henning was 4 of 5 on extra points. On defense, Zach Schiegg led the charge with four sacks. In special teams action, Deandre Liggins’ blocked punt helped get the Mustangs off to a great start. The Mustangs have the week off before beginning district play in the Homecoming game against JerseyVillage. The team and coaches would like to thank all of you that drove down to SugarLand to support us. The band, cheerleaders, drill team, the Stampede and the student body were all awesome!
