You’ve heard about Pressbox Services for years and have been told that using it is a way for coaches to protect their profession. Curious about how the THSCA is able to provide this protection through Pressbox?
The THSCA represents Texas high school coaches at each legislative session by being a powerful voice backed by numerous supporters. As you know, certain agendas in these sessions often pose a threat to athletic programs and the coaching profession. When these threats arise, DW Rutledge uses contacts obtained through Pressbox Services to alert coaches, parents, and athletic supporters to these issues. The THSCA has made it incredibly easy to get the word to your local representative that proposed changes to Texas high school athletics are highly opposed. Because of this support, the THSCA has successfully protected your profession and the athletic program as you know it multiple times. So, how does the THSCA gather the information for these supporters?
My Pressbox is a completely FREE service offered to parents and fans of your team. My Pressbox is a great way to get your community involved in the Pressbox initiative. All your supporters have to do is go to www.pressboxservices.com, click on the link to sign up for My Pressbox, and create their FREE account. The My Pressbox registration form asks for an email address. We assure you this information goes directly to the THSCA to be added to that massive email database that Coach Rutledge uses to send alerts when legislative threats arise. The more we work together to build this database, the more we arm the THSCA with the resources needed to provide protection.
You can help by getting the word out to your parents, fans, athletes, and media. Tell them to sign up for their FREE My Pressbox account. When they sign up, they can pick your team to follow – making it easier than ever to find the latest information their coach has posted to Pressbox. As soon as someone picks your team to follow, they get added to your Pressbox contact list. Now, you can easily reach out to all of your supporters through Pressbox to send updates about your team.
Here are a few tips from other schools on how to get your community involved:
- Post a link to Pressbox on your school’s team website or your booster club’s site
- Tell your booster club to promote My Pressbox at their next meeting or next newsletter
- Ask your game announcer to direct fans to Pressbox Services for the latest on your team
- Get your athletes to sign up and tell their friends – they can see the latest stats across the state
Remember, if you aren’t using Pressbox, you aren’t supporting the THSCA. In this time of budget cuts and threats to athletic programs, why wouldn’t you want to use a completely FREE, easy-to-use service that provides beneficial team management and promotional tools, is free to parents and fans, gives media and recruiters quick access to your team information, and gives you the opportunity to help and support the association that works so hard to protect coaches?
